Lamentum - 19th Century Horror Comes Home in August

Three years after its initial debut, gothic eldrich horror game Lamentum gets a release date! Spanish developer Obscure Tales and Taiwain based publisher Neon Doctrine (formally known as Another Indie) gave horror fans a nice treat today announcing that players can dive into Lamentum on August 31st, 2021 on Playstation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The biggest surprise is that it's just over a month away!

Lamentum sees Victor Hartwell bringing his ill wife Alissa to the mysterious Grau Hill Manor to hopefully find the cure from its inhabitant Lord Steinrot after learning he is versed in the forbidden knowledge that could save his wife.

Soon after arriving on the Lord’s doorstep things take a turn for the worse with blood filling the halls and the walls dripping flesh. Only good things await Victor and his wife Alissa I am sure…

With melee and ranged weapons from the 19th century mixed with scarce resources and tight inventory space, it looks to be right up any survival horror fan’s alley. Touting branching story paths, multiple endings, and most importantly a mansion filled with traps, puzzles, and horrors it seems that Lamentum will have plenty of replayability too!

While Lamentum is Obscure Tales’ first release, they have shown lots of promise with multiple demos and even releasing a demo on Xbox one this should give players a good idea of the horrors that await their nightmares on August 31st.

Lamentum’s publisher Neon Doctrine has shown a great eye for horror before with titles like Yuppie Psycho and Vigil: The Longest Night. Lamentum looks like it’s going to be another great horror title to add to their portfolio.

Pre-orders open on August 10th for Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Playstation, and PC. More information is available on the official website.
