TMNT Shredder’s Revenge Out Now on All Platforms

A Potentially Legendary Franchise Game Arrives

Standing as potentially a perfect tribute to a popular franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is available now for all platforms. Utilizing the gameplay design and pixel art mastery of Tribute Games and publishing from Dotemu of Windjammers 2 and Streets of Rage 4 fame with further publishing help from Gamera Games, Shredder’s Revenge is poised to make a tremendous splash.

In fact, everything about this release is substantial and nostalgic to the point that Limited Run Games have added Pizza Hut coupons into their physical releases.

Shredder’s Revenge is a cooperative beat-em-up comparable to the classic game Turtles in Time from arcades and SNES. Up to six players can rough up iconic Turtles foes both locally and online. Even though Shredder’s Revenge is being released on most gaming platforms, crossplay between them won’t be available at launch. Though there is a chance that could be added in a future update.

Of course, the cast of seven characters (the four turtles plus, April, Casey, and Splinter) and the cartoon style of the 80s make the game hard to ignore for fans. The opening animation is stellar, the character animation perfectly captures the personalities of the characters, and there is a surprisingly deep combat system that rewards skill. In a sea of fantastic beat-em-up games, Shredder’s Revenge stands out, nostalgia aside.

I got to play the demo with developers at PAX East with a few of the developers at Tribute Games. It was the best game of that event in my opinion and there was always a crowd of people waiting to play. It was clear from that demo and interview that this project is a dream come true for the developers and they’ve clearly put a ton of love into it. Hopefully, the full release goes off without a hitch because everything I have seen and played suggests that this could be the best TMNT game made so far.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is available now on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC through Steam for $24.99 USD. Additionally, the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Even more Shredder’s Revenge goodness can be found through Limited Run Games which has several editions of a physical release.

Learn more about the game’s development in our interview with Fred Gémus while at PAX East, available on Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more.
