Gore Magala Revealed for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak during Capcom Showcase
Sunbreak is Shaping Up
The Capcom Showcase gave a brief but satisfying look into several upcoming titles from the publisher but Monster Hunter fans may have started cheering when a beloved beast let out a roar during the new trailer. Gore Magala, the flagship titan from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as well as Espinas from Monster Hunter Frontier were revealed to be new monsters featured in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak which comes out June 30th worldwide for Nintendo Switch and PC.
Gore Magala made waves with its unique pursuit of hunters in Ultimate 4 resulting in one of the best hunts of the entire series involving the creature transforming into the terrifying Shagaru Magala. This particular monster was requested for Monster Hunter World and made a brief appearance in the final moments of the Monster Hunter movie starring Mila Jovovich, a film that we discussed at length on The Forever Classic Podcast. Gore Magala is one of my favorite monsters in the franchise so it’s especially exciting for me.
A new Sunbreak demo will be available on June 14th and will feature several quests with premade hunters. The Jungle area, a classic zone from previous MH games, as well as hunts for Astalos, Tetranadon, Great Izuchi, Malzeno, and training quests including an intro to the new Switch Skill mechanics will be the main contents of the demo.
In order to access the Sunbreak content, players will need to own a copy of Monster Hunter Rise and complete the Hub 7★ Quest, Serpent Goddess of Thunder. Brand new players do have the option of using the free-to-download Black Belt armor and Defender weapons to get an edge on early hunts.
The new Sunbreak news was shared alongside a slew of awesome Resident Evil announcements, a teaser for an upcoming Dragon’s Dogma event, footage of the dinosaur wave shooter Exoprimal, and short spotlights for Street Fighter 6, Capcom Fighting Collection, and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium.
More details about Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak are available on the official website. Screenshots courtesy of Capcom’s press hub. We believe these are from the PC version but there doesn’t appear to be a particular label.
