Metroid Prime Remastered Chozo Artifact Guide

The Chozo Artifact hunt is one of Metroid Prime Remastered’s greatest challenges and a roadblock for many players. This guide will help track them all down and complete Samus’s mission on Tallon IV. This guide is also available in video form - Video Guide

Artifact of Truth - Artifact Temple, Impact Crater

It's hard to miss this first one. At the landing site where Samus first arrives on Tallon IV, there’ll be a door at the south end of the room (the direction Samus’s ship is facing) leading to a special area, the Impact Crater. At the end of a long corridor, you’ll find the Artifact Temple with the first artifact floating dead center. Scanning the other totems will give you hints about the remaining artifacts’ locations.

Artifact of Chozo - Life Grove, Tallon Overworld

This artifact is located in the same room where you obtain the X-ray Visor. Using this new visor alongside a Power Bomb will gain you access to the remainder of the room. From there, travel straight toward the tall waterfall. You’ll now be standing in a large pond, at the center there’ll be a bombable slab of rock. Blow it up. A pillar will rise with a Boost Ball slot. Boost to rotate a small platform below you. Once in place, it will rise out of the ground, revealing the artifact.

Artifact of Lifegiver - Tower of Light, Chozo Ruins

Travel through the Ruined Shrine room using the Spider Ball track hidden behind the right side wall. Travel through the hallway to the Tower of Light room. Jump down into the water and move forward. You’ll find a Wave Beam door hanging above you in a small cave. Jump out of the water and through the door (this will require the Gravity Suit) to find the artifact.

Artifact of Wild - Sunchamber, Chozo Ruins

After obtaining the Spider Ball, travel back to the Sunchamber room of the Chozo Ruins through the north entrance, the south entrance will be blocked by vines. Once you’ve spider-balled up and entered the chamber, you’ll be attacked by Chozo ghosts. Defeating them will reveal the artifact atop Flaahgra’s old leaves.

Artifact of World - Hall of the Elders, Chozo Ruins

Above the statue of the Chozo elder are three morph ball slots with shields corresponding to three beams. Once you have the Plasma Beam, shoot the red slot and activate it with a morph ball bomb. The statue will move, revealing an ice beam door. Enter the hidden room for the artifact.

Artifact of Nature - Lava Lake, Magmoor Caverns

At the center of Lava Lake stands a large rock pillar. Shooting it with missiles will destroy it, revealing the artifact.

Artifact of Strength - Monitor Station, Magmoor Caverns

While crossing the bridge from the monitor room you’ll see an elevated platform off to the side. Jump to this platform and then up to the next level of this structure. This will require the Space Jump Boots. Up here you’ll find a large control console with a Boost Ball slot. Boost to extend a bridge to the left edge of the room. Cross the bridge and leap to the ledge. Go right and follow the path. Eventually, you’ll reach a secret room where you’ll find a Chozo statue holding the artifact.

Artifact of Sun - Chozo Ice Temple, Phendrana Drifts

Platform up to the top of the ice temple. At the top, you’ll see a Chozo statue with its hands frozen together. Using the Plasma Beam you’ll be able to shoot its hands, melting the ice. Now jump into the statue’s free hands in Morph Ball form. This will open a secret tunnel below the statue. Roll through it to reach the artifact.

Artifact of Elder - Control Tower, Phendrana Drifts

Travel up one of the two elevators to the Control Tower room. On the east side, jump over the door to enter the tower itself. Behind some destructible boxes, you’ll see a frozen window. Melt the window with the Plasma Beam. Through the window, you’ll see an orange structure supporting the space pirate watch tower. Shoot a missile at this structure to topple it over, creating a small path to the artifact. There’ll be an exit path to the right of where you pick up the artifact.

Artifact of Spirit - Phendrana’s Edge, Phendrana Drifts

Travel up Phendrana's Edge using the Grapple Beam. Travel to the top of the platform that holds the second grapple point. You can utilize the thermal visor to check if you’re on the right platform, you should see a door in the wall. Drop a Power Bomb to destroy the wall, revealing a Plasma Beam door. Go through to reach the artifact.

Artifact of Warrior - Elite Research, Phazon Mines

In the Elite Research room, you’ll find an elite pirate in a stasis tank. Drop a Power Bomb to destroy the tank and release the pirate. Once the elite unit is defeated, the artifact will reveal itself.

Artifact of Newborn - Phazon Mining Tunnel, Phazon Mines

Once you’ve obtained the Phazon Suit, return to the Phazon Mining Tunnel. Go down the alternate path and bomb your way through a series of rocks to reach the artifact.

With all 12 artifacts collected, you can return to the Impact Crater and gain access to its center. Good luck Samus!
